Our story
Born in Buea in 2016.
Founded in 2016 by the vision bearer, Mr. Focho Betrand Tembi, Cameroon Afro Gospel Choir (CAG) which started with only 6 members in the heart of Molyko at the onset of the Anglophone crisis, is a professional, interdenominational choral group spreading hope, unity, resilience and faith through a vibrant blend of traditional African rhythms and contemporary gospel.
In nine years, CAG has become a leading voice in Cameroonian choral gospel — with highlights at the Africa Sings Festival (Nigeria, 2024), the CIMFEST Peace Concert 2021, national celebrations and state functions. Our debut album Jordan (2018) set our signature fusion of Afrobeat, tradition and gospel.
We've collaborated and fellowshipped with artists and groups like Asaba, Black Coco, Mola Mongombe, 121 Selah, Axios Choir, Ave Maria Choir Clegg, and featured on Worship Exodus '22 & '23, as well as the Cameroon International Music Festival (CIMFEST). Awards include Best Choral Group in Cameroon (CIMFEST 2023), the Africa Sings Festival Award and Transgeneration Forces Impact Award for Best Cover (our rendition of "No Woman No Cry").
Beyond the stage, CAG serves through music education, youth outreach and benefit concerts — promoting cultural identity, peace and spiritual upliftment across Cameroon and the African diaspora. Featured on CRTV and profiled by The Cameroonianz as Cameroon's most innovative choral group, we champion the nation's four cultural extractions — Sawa, Sahel, Grassfield and Fang-Beti— in song and dance.
